Current beta limitations

  • The app uses Electron's default icon in this beta.
  • The installer is not Authenticode signed, so Windows SmartScreen may show Unknown publisher.
  • This UI redesign has not completed a new round of human verification for real-platform downloads.
  • Release Notes still list human-verification limits for Restricted, Private Session, Reddit, Open, Show in folder, and final-file retention after restart.
  • Automated tests do not replace human verification against real platforms and workflows.
  • The whisper runtime and transcription models are downloaded on demand and are not included in the installer.
  • Local transcription uses CPU mode only.
  • Restricted Archive and Restricted Transcription are currently unavailable.

Which platforms are currently supported?

DownloaderAI Desktop v1.3.0-beta.2 supports eligible public links from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X / Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, Twitch, Vimeo. Support varies by public link type, the pinned yt-dlp version, and upstream changes.

What is new in this beta?

This beta redesigns the Windows desktop workspace, groups sidebar navigation for New Download, Queue, History, Library, Archive, and Transcription, improves Queue loading and status filtering, makes Settings loading and Retry safer, and improves narrow-window navigation and keyboard focus visibility.

Can the queue recover after a restart?

Yes. Queued tasks persist and can be restored after the app restarts. You can then resume scheduling, retry failed tasks, or cancel work.

Why can Vimeo or another public link still fail?

A public URL may still be rejected by an upstream platform, require a login, be rate limited, or be region restricted. Vimeo accepted-domain support does not guarantee every Vimeo link will analyze or download successfully.

Do I need a platform account, Cookie, token, or password?

No. DownloaderAI does not ask you to import platform passwords, Cookies, tokens, or account credentials, and it does not promise to bypass login walls.

Why does Windows show Unknown publisher?

This beta is not code signed, so Windows SmartScreen may show Unknown publisher. Download only from downloadxai.com or the official GitHub Release and verify the SHA-256 checksum.

How do I verify the installer SHA-256?

Run Get-FileHash in PowerShell for the downloaded installer and compare all 64 characters with C7542100087EB79499AE63DB76079D69D3B793AFF50B0A3A8BD7893885686DD0. Do not install the file if they differ.

Does it support DRM, private, or paid content?

No. DownloaderAI does not provide DRM, login-wall, paywall, private-content, CAPTCHA, or regional-restriction bypasses. Use it only for public content you own or are authorized to save.

Is the speed limit shared across all downloads?

The configured limit applies to each worker. Total bandwidth may approach that limit multiplied by the number of active workers.

Can it download a live stream that is still in progress?

No. Ongoing live-stream downloads are not supported. Twitch support covers eligible public VODs after the stream has ended.

Responsible use and access boundaries

Users should only save content they own, are authorized to use, or are otherwise legally permitted to save. DownloaderAI does not bypass DRM, login or paywalls, private content, CAPTCHA, regional restrictions, or other platform controls. It does not import Cookies, tokens, passwords, or account credentials, and it does not support ongoing live streams.

The Restricted workspace is only for users who have reached the legal age in their location and only for public content they have the right to save. It does not promise anonymity, untraceability, or circumvention of access restrictions. Restricted Archive and Restricted Transcription are currently unavailable.
